ELLSWORTH – Roger William Dow, 79, died Oct. 12, 2007, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Gouldsboro, the son of Neal and Marcia (Foss) Dow. Roger attended Steuben High School and then served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949. After his military service, he attended Husson College, where he majored in accounting. Roger was an accountant in Ellsworth for 55 years, starting his career with Little, Gray & Horton, and then entering practice with Charles Gleason. In 1981, he formed Dow & Dow Accountants with his son, Jeffrey R. Dow, where he remained active in the firm until his recent illness. He served multiple terms on the Ellsworth School Board and Ellsworth City Council. He was affiliated with the Rotary Club and Lions Club of Ellsworth, Knights Templar Commandery No. 013, a member of the Masonic Lygonia Lodge No. 40, Ellsworth and a long standing member of the Anah Shrine and York Rite. Roger is survived by his children, Deborah Gregoire and husband, Stephen, of Tampa, Fla., Jeffrey Dow and wife, Alice, of Ellsworth and Ronald Dow and wife, Marie, of Ellicott City, Md.; five grandchildren, Laice, Cameron, Elizabeth and Emily Dow, and Mary Gregoire; sister, Kathleen Ray and husband, Robert, of Corea; brothers, Neal Dow Jr. and wife, Christine, of Ells-worth and Frederick Dow and wife, Ellen, of Jacksonville, Fla. He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Mary Myrick Dow; parents, Neal and Marcia Dow; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ralph Bickford. Friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16.
