ENGLEWOOD, FLA. and BUCKSPORT – Ronald George Patterson, 66, died Feb. 15, 2004, at an assisted living facility in Sarasota, Fla. He was born in Bangor Aug. 12, 1937, and came to Englewood, Fla. in 1998 after retiring from Sprague Energy Corp. as an oil terminal superintendent in Bucksport. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1959 and served in the Army in the following four years, where he graduated from Army Language School in Monterey, Calif. He represented Sprague Energy on several environmental committees which worked to protect the rivers and ports of eastern Maine from the hazards of the oil industry. For many years he served as treasurer of the Downeast Investment Club in Bucksport. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Norma; three sons, Jay and his wife, Leslie of Kittery; Paul of Bucksport, and Eric and his wife, Lisa of York; a daughter, Martha of Tulsa, Okla.; two granddaughters, Stevi Ann of Orrington, and Carly of Kittery; one grandson, Scott of Belfast. A time and date will be announced for a memorial service and interment to be held in Bucksport in late spring.
