OLD TOWN – Ronald J. Mallett, 70, died Dec. 13, 2006, at his home. He was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Old Town, the son of Francis C. and Beatrice A. (Beaulieu) Mallett. Ron served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962, and graduated from the University of Maine College of Forestry in 1963. He lived in West Virginia, Virginia and Pennsylvania, where he worked for the U.S. Forest Service and West Virginia Pulp and Paper. Upon returning to Maine, he worked for Diamond International, A.W. Chaffee and Babcock Ultrapower. Ron enjoyed fishing, rabbit hunting, ATVing and snowmobiling. Surviving are his wife, Virginia (Cota) Mallett; two sons, Daniel Mallett and his wife, Celeste, of Winslow and Lee Mallett and his wife, Caroline, of New York City; a daughter, Patricia Mallett and her husband, Kurt Forsgren, of Wellesley, Mass.; 10 grandchildren, Grace and Patrick Mallett, Axel, Lars and Beck Forsgren, Jennifer Mallett-Farris and her husband, Tristan Farris, Christopher, Jessica and Jordyn Mallett, and Sara Lane; a brother, Edward Mallett and his wife, Bobbie, of Edwards, Colo.; and a nephew, Michael Mallett. Ron will be sadly missed by his dear friend, Ernie Dubay. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono.
