HALL QUARRY – Ronald “Ron” M. Taylor, 79, husband of the late Helen Taylor, died July 29, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 20, 1929, in Chester, Ill. Ron was a U.S. Air Force veteran and received his doctorate in marine botany. He taught at Lansing Community College, Lansing, Mich., for more than 30 years, and received local, state and national recognition for his teaching. Ron retired and moved with his wife to Hall Quarry in 1991, where they manufactured and sold stained glass internationally. Since 2003 Ron had served as the primary caregiver for his daughter. He was a member of the Footloose Friends of MDI and enjoyed gardening, creating stained glass, teaching, ornithology, playing the harp and photography. Ron is survived by one daughter, Sheri Taylor of Hall Quarry; one son, Brian Taylor and his fiancee, Linda Kotecki, of Wisconsin; and one sister, Jewel Nakimiko of California. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. A funeral service will be celebrated 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Union Meeting House, United Church of Christ, Route 102, Somesville, with the Rev. Bob Raymond officiating.
