CORINTH – Ronald “Rube” N. Pomeroy, 66, went to be with the lord quietly Sept. 4, 2004, surrounded by his family at his Corinth home after a valiant fight with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was born July 30, 1938, in Presque Isle, the son of Lawrence and Laura (Michaud) Pomeroy. Ronnie was a very well known artisan water well driller in the area. He loved the well drilling business and owned and operated the Ronald Pomeroy Well Drilling Company for 50 years. Ronnie was an avid fisherman, an interesting story teller, and a great cook. He was a caring husband of 46 years and a loving father and grandfather. Ronnie would always go the extra mile for a friend in need. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Ashe) Pomeroy of Corinth; one daughter and her husband, Renee and Keefe Cyr of Winterport; three brothers and their wives, Malcolm and Josephine Pomeroy of Corinth, Wendell and Sandy Pomeroy of Boise, Idaho, William and Marie Pomeroy of Corinth; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Adkins of Corinth; three grandchildren, Cody, Courtney, and Ryan Cyr; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald Pomeroy Jr.; one sister, Margaret Heselton; and his brother, Ralph Pomeroy. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Corinth United Methodist Church. Interment will immediately follow at the Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Corinth United Methodist Church following the interment.
