HARTLAND – Roscoe W. Arno, 77, passed away Jan. 7, 2008, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital, Pittsfield, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 17, 1930, at The Forks, a son of Nathaniel and Clara (Powell) Arno. He attended schools in Madison and graduated from Madison High School. Roscoe was employed at Ray’s Dairy, Madison, and Irving Tanning Co. for 38 years. He served as a member of the board of directors for SAD 48 for several years. He was a member of Grace Linn Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of Community Couples Club. Roscoe’s favorite sport was hunting. He always looked forward to the month of November and spending his spare time at the “South Forty”, Don Hollister’s hunting camp, with Don, the Towle family and Roscoe’s son, Craig. Roscoe loved life, especially his four granddaughters and their pets. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia (Scribner) Arno of Hartland; and one son, Craig Arno and wife, Joan, and their daughters, Jill and Amy, all of Palmyra. His daughter, Vicki Connell, who predeceased him, left her daughters, Kristi Connell and fianc?, Aaron Bartlett, of Hartland, and Dara (Connell) Sargent and husband, Jeffrey, of Bucksport; his brothers, Leslie of Clarksville, Ark., Rodney and wife, Lena, of East Madison, and Roland of Turner; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his daughter, Vicki of Hartland, he was predeceased by a brother, Earl Arno of Windsor Locks, Conn. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Grace Linn Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ellen Bridge officiating. Spring interment will be in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hartland.
