MILLINOCKET – Rose E. (Murphy) Bouchard Burleigh, 82, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at her home in Millinocket with family and friends by her side. She was born October 18, 1921, in Millinocket, the forth of 13 children, born to John T. and Mary E. (Miller) Murphy. Rose was a lifelong resident of Millinocket where she graduated from Stearns High School in 1941. She married Ernest A. Bouchard and together with him raised their four children. She was a meticulous homemaker, enjoyed gardening, crafts, and long walks. Rose had a colorful personality and was loved by many for her wit and sense of humor. She loved and was loved by her family and friends, and she enjoyed the many fun-filled family gatherings at various camps and homes typical in a large family setting. Rose’s most prized possession was her personal salvation experience, receiving Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord in 1970. She attended the Medway Church of God as well as other Christian fellowships. She enjoyed reading her bible and sharing her faith in Christ. She is survived by her children, Thomas E. Bouchard and his wife, Jane, of Farmingdale, John R. Bouchard of Millinocket, Janice A. Grant and her husband, Layton, of Millinocket, and Keith M. Bouchard and his wife, Rhoda, of Bangor; grandchildren, Lisa (Bouchard) Gelder, Rachel Bouchard, Jennifer (Bouchard) Atkins, Heather Grant-Bulley, Jonathan Grant, and Janelle Bouchard; great-grandchildren, Justin Gelder, Lindsey Gelder, and Gage Bulley; her brothers, John Murphy and his wife, Mary, Charles Murphy and his wife, Gloria, William Murphy and his wife, Cynthia, and Ernest Murphy and his wife, Rhonda, all of Millinocket; sisters, Catherine Wright of Waterbury, Conn., Virginia Ricci and her husband, Peter, of South Windsor, Conn., Theresa Crosby and her husband, Sheldon, of East Millinocket, and Mary (June) Martin of Millinocket; sisters-in-law, Mary Murphy of Lincoln, Marion Murphy of Millinocket; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Marion McCafferty. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest A. Bouchard in 1971; her parents; brothers, Lewis Murphy and Robert Murphy; and sisters, Ella (Murphy) Rollins and Florence (Murphy) Gonya. Rose will be especially missed by her loving and faithful caregivers, Shirley Daigle, Evelyn Hallett, Sandra McCluskey, Judy Stanley, Valerie Malikowski, Donna Graham, Marlene McAdam, Barbara Hebert, and Gail Brooks, whose devoted care allowed Rose to remain in the comfort of her home with great contentment during her long illness. Special thanks to the In-Home Care Agency in Millinocket for their support and for the wonderful care of Rose in her home for over eight years. In-Home Care was originally started in 1995 to meet Rose’s own need for assistance so that she could remain in her home for the duration of her illness. Family and friends are invited to call from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29 at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A worship service of thanksgiving celebrating Rose’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at the funeral home with Pastor Ralph Jacobs officiating. Interment will be in Millinocket Cemetery in the spring.
