WINDHAM – Rosemarie Vaughan, 67, of Victoria Lane, and formerly of Portland, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 3, 2004, after a long, courageous battle with lymphoma. She was at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 30, 1937, in Caswell Plantation, the daughter of Victor J. St. Pierre Sr. and Eva (Baron) St. Pierre. She attended St. Agatha Boarding School and was a graduate of Limestone High School. She attended the School of Nursing at Boston University. In every sense of the word, she was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a wonderful sense of humor, which she kept throughout her illness. She had a distinct and contagious laugh, which will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. Her occupations included working as a dental assistant in Mount Holly, N.J., and she also worked at the New England Telephone Company in Portland. In her later years, she worked for her husband and son as an office manager at their dental practice. Her favorite part of this job was the long lasting relationships she developed with many of the patients. She was a very social and caring person. Among her many hobbies her favorites included quilting, sewing, gardening, cooking, playing the piano, and reading. She had a passion for quilting and loved attending meetings at Nimble Thimbles and the many friends she made there. She reveled in being a grandmother and enjoyed day trips to Storyland and babysitting for Connor and Abby. Her annual return trips to the family farm in “the County” brought back cherished memories from her childhood. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Victor J. St. Pierre Jr.; and her infant sister, Louise Anne St. Pierre. Surviving are her husband of almost 45 years, Paul A. Vaughan Jr. of Windham; a son, David A. Vaughan and his wife, Linda, of Westbrook; three daughters, Vicki L. Vaughan and her husband, Timothy Hubbard, of Windham, Kathleen (Vaughan) Kingsley and her husband, David, of Windham, and Major Michelle M. Vaughan, U.S. Air Force, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Connor James Vaughan and Abigail Jane Vaughan of Westbrook. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Doris St. Pierre of Farmington; four nieces, Vicki (St. Pierre) Foster of Farmington, Jeanne St. Pierre of New Gloucester, Donna St. Pierre of Easton, Eva St. Pierre of Saco; three great-nephews; and one great niece. Visiting hours will 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. be Friday, March 5 at Conroy-Tully Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland, where prayers will be recited 10:15 a.m. Saturday, March 6, to be followed by a celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 673 Stevens Ave., Portland. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
