BELFAST – Roy C. Talbot, 86, died Jan. 8, 2006, at a local healthcare facility. Born Sept. 7, 1919, in Belfast, he was the son of Earl L. and Bessie I. (Cross) Talbot. Roy attended Belfast schools and graduated from Crosby High School in 1937. He then attended the Franklin Institute in Boston, Mass. He married Margaret Hayes May 23, 1941, in Belfast, and they were happily married for almost 65 years. He was a cornerstone of his immediate and extended family which encompasses many generations. Roy was active in planning and attending Crosby High School reunions. He loved watching the Red Sox and was faithful in attending his loved ones baseball games. He enjoyed their family cottage on Pitcher Pond. He served his community by volunteering with the Belfast Food Cupboard and the Belfast Fire Department where he was the assistant fire chief for several years. He was a Mason in the Phoenix Lodge, a member of the First Baptist Church of Belfast, a member of the VFW 6131 in Northport. He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater and in recent years, loved to travel to several Navy reunions. Roy was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Eleanor Stover and Mildred Munroe. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret; two children, Karen Caswell and her husband, John, of Belfast, and Richard Talbot and his wife, Cheryl, of Georgetown, Mass.; one grandson, Kevin Roy Scott and his wife, Michele, of Belfast; two great-granddaughters, Kassidy and Kellie Scott; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Jan. 11, at the First Baptist Church, Belfast. Visitation held will be held 3-6 p.m. Jan. 10, at Rackliffe Funeral Home.
