ROCKLAND – Theodore L. “Ted” Andrus, 80, local florist with his wife, Maxine, founders of Andrus Flowers & Gifts in 1963, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport. Born Aug. 15, 1925, in Kingsville, Ohio, Ted was the son of George W. and Alice Cone Andrus. With their family, Ted and Maxine operated their Main Street business until their retirement in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine Andrus; two sons and their wives, David G. and Roberta Andrus, Donald C. and Sarah Andrus, all of Rockport; two brothers, Donald A. Andrus and his wife, Carol, of Willowick, Ohio, George W. Andrus Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one sister, Carolyn Andrus Johnson and her husband, Lester, of Tucson, Ariz. At Ted’s request no funeral service will be held. Those who wish may make memorial donations in his memory to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 586, Rockland, ME 04841. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland.
