FORT FAIRFIELD – Ruby Ellen Turner, 76, wife of Thorvald A. Turner, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 14, 2008, at a Presque Isle health care facility, after a brief illness. She was born April 16, 1931, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Walter and Inez (Everett) McMann. Ruby attended local schools and was married to Thorvald A. Turner, April 19, 1949. She was a member of Fort Fairfield United Pentecostal Church for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Turner was predeceased by two brothers, Emery and Wallace McMann; three sisters, Madeline Driscoll, Lucy Smith and Dorothy Robinson. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Thorvald A. Turner of Fort Fairfield; three sons and daughters-in-law, Terrance Turner of Sanford, Christopher and Dickie Turner of Fort Fairfield and William H. Turner and Jane Ploude of Framingham, Mass.; five daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Ann and Gary Brooker of Presque Isle, Brenda and Clayton Jackson of Tennessee, Judy M. and Ron Dinsmore of Caribou, Jennia Lynn and Doug Morrell of Caribou and Tammie and Domenick Flacco of Springvale; 12 grandchildren, John Brooker of Texas, Trish Beals of Fort Fairfield, Raymond Christopher Turner of New Hampshire, Michael Doucette of Fort Fairfield, Adam Joseph Turner of Presque Isle, Allyson Turner of Fort Fairfield, Zachary Dinsmore of Caribou, Jessica and Erik Jandreau, both of Presque Isle, Amanda Yeram of California, Lillian Diefenbach and Justin Little, both of Springvale; six great-grandchildren, Tiana, Josh and Kalie Brooker, Noah Christopher Turner, Logan Yeram and Hailey Diefenbach; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola Gamblin and Willadena Chambers, both of Carlingford, New Brunswick, Glenna and Omar Dubay, and Bessie Gagnon, all of Fort Fairfield; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a brief prayer service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Harry Lewis. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at United Pentecostal Church, 37 Currier St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Harry Lewis officiating. Friends may also call noon until time of service at the church. Spring interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of fellowship with refreshments will be held immediately after the funeral service at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Ruby to the American Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
