BANGOR – Ruby H. Sprague, 75, wife of the late David R. Sprague, died June 8, 2005, at Maine Veterans Home. She was born April 28, 1930 in St. Croix, N.B., the daughter of Edward and Laura (Craig) Scott. She spent her childhood in St. Croix, New Brunswick and all of her adult life in Bangor. Always young at heart, she enjoyed being around and involved with young people. In the early years she worked as a crossing guide at Mary Snow School, where she looked after the safety and well being of hundreds of school age children. She then ran a home daycare for over 15 years where she touched the lives of many children and their parents. Her greatest pleasure was being involved with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild who love her very much; there was nothing she would not do for them. Although her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family, she also enjoyed bowling, camping, hiking, going to camp and working in her garden. She is survived by her children, Robert R. Sibley of Carmel, Susan and her husband, Robert Garland, of Bangor, David Sprague and his wife, Rhonda, of Glenburn, Scott Sprague and Thoma Butler of Bangor, Patrick Sprague and his wife, Heather, of Milford; two sisters, Geraldine Day of Baring, Vera Beach of Cathance Lake; six grandchildren, Nicole, Matthew, Kristen, Joshua, Reed, Caleb; one great-grandson, Cameron; special friend, Jeannette Withington of Bangor; and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Lynn Marie (Sprague) Tweedie; a grandson, John Garland; two sisters, Annie and Hilda Scott; two brothers, David and Beecher Scott. Friends may call 4:30-8 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Robert T. Carlson, Chaplain of Husson College, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service.
