BANGOR and AUBURN Russell G. Field Sr., 88, died unexpectedly Jan. 2, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 5, 1919, in Quincy, Mass., the son of the late Elmer D. and Lucy A. (Noyes) Field. Russell was educated in schools in Wakefield, Mass., and Penobscot. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps at 1131 Company Fort Williams, Portland. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1937 to 1945 and was discharged as chief boatswains mate. Russell was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 75 Archon Lodge, East Dixmont. He was a trade steamfitter and a 50-year member of Local 321, Bangor. Russell enjoyed outdoor sports activities such as hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, Russell was predeceased by his daughter, Lucy; his second wife, Dorothy; and his brothers, Haskell and Lowell. He is survived by his beloved sister, Carolyn Hooper of Scarborough; daughter, Carol Gilbert; son, Russell Field Jr. and his wife, Sharyn, all of Orland; stepson, Wayne Grindle and his wife, Anita, of Connecticut; his grandchildren, Dolores “Lori” Foster and her husband, Wayne, of Clifton, Lesley Blair of Bucksport, Honey Jo Seekins of Ellsworth and Russell Field III of Bangor; great-grandchildren, Todd Foster, Brandon and Bailey Blair, Nathan and Jason Levandoski, Shayla Seekins and Garrett Field. Memorial services will be held at the Veterans’ Cemetery, Augusta, in the spring. For those who wish to contribute in Russell’s memory, donations may be made to Androscoggin Home Health, P.O.
