MARS HILL – Russell V. Brewer Sr., 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Dec. 20, 2007. He was born July 2, 1940, in Blaine, the son of Melvin and Lottie Brewer. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Rachel Esther (Chase) Brewer, with whom he had four children, Russell Brewer Jr. and his wife, Jamie Brewer, Betsy (Brewer) Garland and her husband, Robert Garland Jr., Dana Brewer and Janna Brewer; his grandchildren, Abram, Sarah and Hannah Brewer and Charity, and Gabe Garland. He is also survived by a brother, Elwin Brewer; and a sister, Theresa Clark. He had many other dear family members and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Brewer Jr. Russell’s passions were his grandchildren, fishing, the woods and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed reading, especially the Word of God and attending the First Free Baptist Church in Blaine. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by us all. We love you, Dad. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Blaine Free Baptist Church with Pastor Gardner Smith officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church 1 p.m. until the time of the service. A spring interment will be in the Tapley Cemetery in Blaine.
