HAMPDEN – We celebrate the life of Ruth A. Kelley, a longtime resident of Hampden. “Do not cry for me, for I have had a wonderful life.” These were Ruth Alekel Kelley’s words before her death March 4, 2006. She was surrounded by her dedicated family and grandchildren at her loving home. She was born May 31, 1913, to Sultana and David Alekel of Lawrence, Mass., where she was educated, lived and worked. Her family of six brothers and sisters created a steadfast loyalty to family that lasted a lifetime. Ruth met her husband, Philip George Kelley (now deceased) through her church. At the end of World War II, they began their family and their businesses. Ruth, Philip, Phyllis, Richard and Donald moved to Bangor in 1954. Ruth and Philip owned and operated Kelley Pontiac of Bangor for more than 50 years, with on-going participation in their community. She dedicated her life to her family, extended family, her business and her church. She loved deeply and is loved deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Kelley of Hampden; her sons, Richard Kelley of Hampden and Donald Kelley of Bangor; her grandchildren, MacKenzie, Philip and Kenneth Kelley; along with many loving and cherished nieces and nephews. A wake will be held 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, March 10, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a Trisagion Service will be held 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 90 Sanford St., Bangor, with the Rev.
