SOUTH BREWER – Ruth Charlotte Burnett, 91, died Oct. 21, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born Aug. 9, 1914, in Bangor the daughter of Andrew C. and Flora E. (Palmer) Burnett. Ruth graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1932. She went on to graduate from the University of Maine in Orono in 1937, from the College of Arts and Sciences with a bachelors degree in economics and sociology. Ruth was a member of Delta-Delta-Delta Sorority and was recently enrolled as a member of the Golden Circle after 50 years of membership. She was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Maine. Ruth retired in 1982 from Eastern Fine Paper where she was the executive secretary for the President and was well liked and highly respected. She enjoyed her bridge card games with her many friends. Ruth was a lifetime resident of 447 South Main St., Brewer, until three years ago when she moved to the Ellen Leach Home. She is survived by a special cousin-in-law, Marguerite Palmer of Brewer; many cousins, Nathalie Franks of Bangor, Richard E. Palmer and wife, Jean, of Ormond Beach, Fla., Patricia E. Meyers and husband, James, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Constance L. Burnham and husband, Barry, of Rome, N.Y., Glen A. Palmer and wife, Kathryn, of Augusta, Ga., Joanne Spencer of Milford, Jon Hayward of Phoenixville, Pa., Jeff Hayward of Old Town, Frederic “Tony” Palmer and wife, Carolyn, of Westford, Mass., and several other cousins. Friends are invited to meet with the family from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Brookings-Smith Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Gary Turgeon, pastor of Twin City Baptist Church, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Reception Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer, following the service. Private interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Brewer. The family would like to give a special thanks to Ross Manor, Waterman Unit, for the wonderful loving care that Ruth received while a patient there.
