DOVER-FOXCROFT – Ruth E. Palmer, 83, died April 26, 2006, at a local nursing home. She was born June 23, 1922, in Pittsfield, the daughter of William Harold and Marion (Dwyer) Lanpher. Mrs. Palmer had worked at woolen mills in Guilford and Corinna for many years. She will be remembered by many in the area as their “Avon Lady.” In her retirement she enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Although Ruth did not attend church, she had a deep faith, which carried her throughout life. She leaves her beloved daughter, Lillian Johndro and her husband, David, of Corinth; two brothers, William E. Lanpher and his wife, Virginia and Harlan Lanpher and his wife, Hilda, all of Barre, Vt.; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Eva) Bailey of Barre, Vt.; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her extended family, Joan Clark and Mary Rideout and their families. She was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Ryan and Athlene Lanpher; and a grandson, Wayne Johndro. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 28, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, with Pastor Jerry Mick of the Bangor Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Jackman Corner Cemetery, Sangerville.
