SPRINGFIELD – Ruth E. Lewis, died April 12, 2005, at Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Lincoln. She was born April 22, 1913, the daughter of Harry A. and A. Louise (Ardron) Lewis of Springfield. She was a graduate of Eastern Maine Institute and the University of Maine. Despite a debilitating, chronic disease that affected most of her life Ruth was active in local and regional affairs for many years in Springfield, serving as selectman, member of local and regional school boards and as a founding member of the board of Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. She received many certificates and other forms of recognition of her contributions to the life of the town and her long service to education. Ruth was also recognized officially for her years of weather observation and reporting. She is survived by a brother, Ermond F. “Deke” Lewis of Framingham, Mass.; a sister, Lillian L. (Neen) Davis of Camp Hill, Pa.; a brother, Joseph H. Lewis of Sorrento, and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, F. Marion Lewis and her brothers, Ardron B. and Richard S. Lewis.
