SANGERVILLE – Ruth (Goundry) Campbell, 96, died March 13, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born May 4, 1910, in Wellington, a daughter of Luther and Ethel (Arabella) Goundry. She graduated from Harmony High School, Class of 1928, and the Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing in 1930. Ruth then served her nursing residency in New York City. She served for many years at hospitals in Guilford and Dover-Foxcroft, retiring in 1978, as night charge nurse at Mayo Regional Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Clarence C. Campbell; a son, Keith and wife, Nancy Campbell, all of Sangerville; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Huff of Wellington; three grandchildren, Ann Marie, Laura and Jacob Campbell; many nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by an infant daughter, Brenda Sue; two sisters, Phyllis Parker and Susie Buzzell; as well as a brother, Elbridge Goundry. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford, with the Rev. Ray Beless officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Spring burial will be at Chadbourne Cemetery, Harmony.
