ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Ruth Marie (Corliss) Splan, 84, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at her home in Oaks Royal. She was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Waterville. She moved here in 1981, from Sherman Mills, with her husband, Tom. She was a homemaker, dairy farmer, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First Congregational Church Dade City and Eastern Star of Sherman. In Oaks Royal I and II, she was heavily involved in leadership, as well as the workings of the park for many years. She was the cheerful greeter at the Dade City Wal-Mart store. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Thomas E. Splan. Her survivors include her sons, James Splan and his wife, Carolyn, of Benedicta, Arnold E. Splan Sr. and his wife, Patricia, of Penobscot; daughter, Carol Munson and her husband, Richard, of Sherman; brother, Ray Corliss and his wife, Betty, of Albuquerque, N.M.; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, at First Congregational Church in Dade City, Fla. A committal service will be announced at a later date. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
