HOULTON – Ruth Peabody, 83, passed away April 17, 2006, at her daughter’s home in Sierra Vista, Ariz. She was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Littleton, the daughter of Stephen and Blanche (Brown) Crane. Ruth was the wife of Harold Peabody who predeceased her in 1980. They were proprietors of the Borderland Drive In Theater in Houlton for 33 years. They owned and operated a potato seed farm in North Amity. Ruth moved to Presque Isle where she was a member of the Presque Isle Congregational Church, UCC for 17 years. She enjoyed playing bridge and attending Body Recall. She returned to Houlton in October 2004. She attended the Military Street Baptist Church in Houlton. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Pamela Peabody of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Kelly McCullough and her husband, Aaron; great-grandson, Michael, all of Winslow; Kristine Mulligan and her husband, Joe; two great-grandchildren, Brodie and Bryndyln, all of Derry, N.H.; her son, Kevin McManemon and his fiance, Heidi Messer, of Derry, N.H.; stepchildren, Herman Peabody and his wife, Kate, of Lincoln, Joyce Mitchell and her husband, Roger, of Westbrook, Ervin Peabody and his wife, Elaine, of Bristol, Conn., Earle Peabody and his wife, Marie, of Orient; 14 stepgrandchildren, several great-stepgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Huggard, Evelyn Harris, Lois Geiger and her husband, Skip, all of Houlton, Patsy Clark and her husband, George, of Oakfield; many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by special friend, Annette Wolfe, who provided many hours of care and cribbage playing. She was predeceased by Pansy Crane, Goldie Scully, Nola Webber and Mae Lexotte; brothers, Harry Crane, Milton Crane and Edward Crane; stepson, Donald “Joe” Peabody. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Grove-Markwood officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
