DOVER-FOXCROFT – Sally Gellerson Glover Bartram, 77, died peacefully on Feb. 8, 2005, at a local nursing home. Sally was born in Dover-Foxcroft, May 5, 1927, to Dorothy Dyer and Arnold T. Gellerson. She spent many of her growing up years in the home of her grandmother, Frances Gellerson, whom Sally held in deep affection throughout her life. She was predeceased by her parents; husbands, Charles L. Glover and Philip H. Bartram; brother, Rex Gellerson; and her son, Greg T. Glover. She is survived by her son, Gilman A. Glover and his wife, Peggy, of Dover-Foxcroft; grandchildren, Kevin Glover of Canaan, N.H., and Leslie Glover of Winona, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Glover Zarella and grandchildren, Kaela, Kelsie and Kallie Glover, all of Readfield; stepmother, Beatrice Gellerson of Dover-Foxcroft; stepsisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Thatcher Adams of Garland, Kristen and Bruce Gurall of Concord, Mass.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and a special friend, Leone Vaughan of Hallowell. Sally was devoted to her family and loyal to her friends, and was well known for her ready sense of fun and humor. She used her understanding and love of design and color as a means of decorating her world and that of others with whom she generously shared the remarkable talent. She truly “brightened the corner” of spirit and space wherever she was. Sally attended the Modern School of Fashion and Design in Boston before working in the advertising department at Freese’s Department Store, while her husband, Charles was a student at the University of Maine. Her natural ability to visualize a completed project before she began, coupled with a sense of style, texture, and sense of color, meant that she was sought after by friends and associates whenever they needed decorating advice. Her touch was seen in the homes of her friends and extended to enhancing interiors of banks, churches, and to the Blaine House during her years as its hostess. Her knowledge of antiques not only contributed to her success as a decorator, but led her to establish her own antiques business in Dover-Foxcroft before moving to Manchester, Me. In her years of living in Dover-Foxcroft and Manchester, she maintained an active interest in church, club, and civic affairs, including participation in the Manchester Grange and Manchester Community Church. She worked on GOP political campaigns at the state and local levels, eventually serving as social secretary for Governor John McKernan at the Blaine House. Sally’s family is grateful to all the kind people who helped to look after her and guide her through the long years of living with Alzheimer’s Disease, with special thanks to the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home for their respectful and tender care. Friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A private funeral service will be held for the family. Those who wish may make memorial contributions either to the Manchester Grange, P.O. Box 5, Manchester 04351 or to Maine Alzheimer’s Disease Association, 163 Lancaster St., Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101.
