BAILEYVILLE – Sandy B. Leighton, 43, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour unexpectedly Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Sandy was born July 24, 1964, in Calais, daughter of Edward Bailey and Gertrude (McLellan) Roberts. She graduated from Woodland High School, Class of 1982. On July 13, 1985, she married William “Billy” Leighton. Sandy worked for 13 years at Georgia Pacific, as a secretary at Calais Regional Hospital, and most recently with Customs and Border Protection, Calais. She was a member of Princeton Baptist Church and enjoyed riding motorcycles, kayaking and spending time with family, friends and her dogs. Sandy was predeceased by her father, Edward Bailey; and grandparents, Byron and Lettie McLellan, Milton and Muriel Roberts and George Bailey. Surviving are her husband, Billy of Baileyville; her parents, Gertrude and Guel Roberts of Princeton; a stepson, Trevor Leighton of Baileyville; paternal grandmother, Shirley Cook of Calais; four sisters, Linda Phelps and her husband, Glen, Darlene Leighton and her husband, Peter, Lori Pike and her husband, Tony, all of Princeton, and Trina James and her companion, Lowell Brown Jr., of Charlotte; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lynn and George Hill of Baileyville; a special aunt, to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her two faithful canine companions, Reba and Buddy. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 30, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Princeton Baptist Church, Main Street, Princeton.
