BANGOR and OLD TOWN – Sara Jean Roy, 57, passed away Dec. 8, 2006, after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 6, 1949, the daughter of Louis and Alma (Rustin) Roy. Sara was well-known for her sense of humor, bright smile, enjoyment of life and memory of people and special events. She looked forward to going to program at Penobscot Valley Industry and participated in activities such as sewing, painting and crafts. She enjoyed community outings, such as dining at Momma Baldacci’s and social gatherings. Sara was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Earl and Dana Roy; and sisters, Beth Mobley and Lois Calloway. She is survived by her sisters, Marcia Osborne of Old Town, Brenda Higgins of Cornville, Avis Gilley of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Jane Copley of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Judy Roy of Eddington; brothers, Paul Roy of Argyle and Joe Roy of Milford, and many nieces and nephews. Sara’s family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers from the Getchell Agency, Rena, Wayne, Janice and Ernie, who all have very special memories of Sara. Visiting hours will be held 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, with a funeral service beginning 5 p.m. at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. Friends and family are invited to a reception after the services. Interment will be at a later date.
