ETNA – Scott E. Illingworth, 53, passed away peacefully Dec. 26, 2007, surrounded by his extensive and loving family at a Bangor hospital, after a brief battle with cancer. Scott was born Jan. 10, 1954, in Millinocket, the son of Roy Y. and Minnie A. (Galen) Illingworth. He was a 1972 graduate of Stearns High School and was employed at Great Northern Paper Co., Millinocket, until 1983. For the past 24 years, Scott had been a loyal and key employee for Uniship, Inc., where he worked as a courier and a dispatcher. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his dog, Sophie. He will always be remembered for his very special sense of humor. Scott was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Roy; and his son, Shaun. He is survived by his three daughters, Shelli Hanscom and her husband, Andy, of Holden, Sandra Illingworth and husband, Colin Baier, of Portland, and Emily Illingworth of Brewer; and one granddaughter, Aubrey Minnie Hanscom. In addition, he is survived by his brothers, Thomas of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mark and his wife, Andrea, of Holden, John and his wife, Sara, of Rochester N.Y., Galen and his wife, Rhonda, of Millinocket, Paul and companion, Tom Esten, of Portland, and Matthew of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one sister, Helen Primak of Malden, Mass.; many nieces and nephews; as well as Becky Illingworth, who cared for him throughout this last period of his life. He will be sadly missed by his family, his friends and his “other family,” the Unishippers. Friends and family are invited to attend Scott’s memorial services 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, with the Rev. Peter Spraque, pastor of Columbia Street Baptist Church, Bangor, officiating. In keeping with his request, gifts in his memory may be sent for the benefit of Emily Illingworth, care of Shelli Hanscom, 101 Lake Shore Road, Holden, ME 04429.
