EASTPORT and WESTMINSTER, Mass. – Sharon E. Belongie, 58, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at a Bangor hospital, with her family by her side. Sharon was born Dec. 6, 1948, in Eastport, daughter of the late John and Florence (Malloch) Downey. She received her Bachelor of Science in biology from Worcester State College, Worcester, Mass. Sharon married Craig S. Belongie, May 11, 1990, in Northborough, Mass. She attended the First Baptist Church, Westminster, Mass. Sharon enjoyed crafts, cooking, traveling, animals, gardening and spending summers in Eastport. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother. Surviving are her husband of more than 17 years, Craig Belongie; two daughters, Tracy Wyle and her husband, Noah, of Malibu, Calif., and Jennifer Thorpe and her husband, Jeffrey, of Woodstock, Conn.; a sister, Marjorie Espin of Texas; a brother, Dee Allen Malloch of Massachusetts; her four grandchildren, Cassidy and Ethan Thorpe, and Owen and Auden Wyle; her canine companion, Jake; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at First Baptist Church, 117 Main St., Westminster, Mass. A celebration of her life will be after at The Border Grill, Leominster, Mass.
