MILLINOCKET – Shirley Boynton Goodwin, 78, beloved wife of James Atlee Goodwin Sr., died Oct. 18, 2006, at Millinocket Regional Hospital. Shirley was born Oct. 25, 1927, in Millinocket, the daughter of Silas M. and Olive Moore Boynton. Shirley was a member of Millinocket Baptist Church, Millinocket VFW Auxiliary, Northern Timber Cruisers and the Ladies of the Lake Women’s Fellowship. Shirley lived a wonderful life, rich in family values and traditions. She took pride in her ability to be a homemaker and was a talented cook. She was extremely witty and spirited, and was known for her sense of humor. She was very active and enjoyed camp, snow sledding, cross country skiing and spending time in her later years snow-birding in Florida. Shirley’s legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Atlee; one son, James Jr. and wife, Lenie Goodwin, of Berlin, N.H.; four daughters, Judy Archibald of Bangor; Linda and husband, Dennis Gero, of Cummington, Mass.; Elizabeth and husband, David Henderson, of Taylors, S.C.; Natalie and husband, John Raymond, of Millinocket; grandchildren, Darcy Emerson, Jamie Goodwin, Katie Grant, Jason Raymond, Jennifer Foster, Raymond Henderson and Rachel Henderson; great- grandchildren, Anthony Emerson, Emilee Emerson, Jenessa Foster, Nicholas Bell, Dominic Grant; also one brother, Roger and wife, Polly Boynton, of Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Millinocket Baptist Church, receiving friends immediately after the service.
