SHIRLEY S. HOOD BAILEYVILLE – Shirley S. Hood, 64, passed away in the early morning of Oct. 26, 2003, at her home in Baileyville, after a tough battle with cancer. Shirley was born July 10, 1939, in Seboeis, the daughter of Elizabeth and Fred Thompson. She was married to Larry Hood on June, 14, 1987. Shirley worked for the Pine Tree Tannery in Howland. She then moved to Baileyville, and went to work at Barnard’s Nursing Home in Calais. After several very rewarding years working with the elderly, she went to work at Georgia Pacific, where she retired after 28 years as the storeroom manager. She then spent many enjoyable years working at the Frank Beckett Center taking care of adults with special needs. She will be missed by all she touched. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Cox; her son, Steven Cox; her sisters, Thelma, Laura, Peggy; her brother, Arthur; and her grandson, James Dean. She is survived by her husband, Larry Hood; her mother, Betty Tracy; a very special brother, Fred Thompson and his wife, Connie; her children, Peggy Dean and husband, Alton Seavey, Donnie Cox and his wife, Gayla, and Linda Perkins and her husband, Rodney; her grandchildren, David Dean Jr., Wendy Dean, Missy Cox, Steven Cox, Angel Yates and her husband, Scott, Corey Perkins and his wife, Nicole, Terry Perkins, and Stephanie Perkins and Kyler Coffin; three great-grandchildren, Donnie Cox Jr., Brett Campbell, and Delia Yates; and her stepchildren, Donna and husband, Alan Melanson, Bobby and wife, Jacky Hood, Tommy and wife, Marge Hood, Cathy and husband, Robert Newell, Billy and wife, Tammy Hood, Jimmy and wife, Caron Hood, Libby Hood. A memorial service for all friends and family will take place 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at the Woodland Methodist Church with the Pastor, Bernie Hammond officiating. A luncheon will be held immediately after the memorial service at the Methodist Church. A private graveside service for the immediate family will follow at the Woodland Cemetery. Those who wish can make donations to the Ronald McDonald House in Bangor. They were a tremendous help through this very trying time. Shirley, you will be remembered for your kind and loving ways and your deep devotion to our family. You will be greatly missed by everyone who knew you. May you rest in peace. We love you dearly.
