SIDNEY F. MAKER LUBEC – Sidney F. Maker, 91, passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at a local medical facility. Sidn-ey was the son of Almond George Maker and Ida May (Flood) Maker. He was born Feb. 2, 1914, in Phippsburg. Sidney was a member and Deacon of the Lubec Congregational Christian Church, served as president of the Church, a member of the building committee, and Superintendent of Sunday School. He was a scout master for troop No. 150 for two years. Sidney was also a member of Washington Lodge No. 37, AF & AM for more than 57 years and was worthy master in 1946; Royal Arch Chapter No. 76, Lubec, where he served as secretary for 38 years; Royal Arch Chapter No. 10 of Eastport, St. Croix Council No. 10 of Calais, and Past Worthy Patron of Quoddy Light Chapter No. 94, O.E.S. Sidney retired in 1976 from Dead River Company as manager of the Lubec Motor Sales. He was predeceased by an infant daughter; and sisters, Mildred Riley, Etta Goodwin, Mabel Marston; and a brother, Almond G. Maker. Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Alice (Lovatt) Maker; one son, Geoffrey R. Maker and his wife, Joyce, of Calais; granddaughter, Elizabeth Michaud and husband, Rick, of Milford, N.H.; grandson, Rand D. Maker and wife, Sarah, of New Harbor; great-grandchildren, Alexandre and Ian Michaud and Jacob Sidney Maker; a sister, Eva Proulx of Rowley, Mass.; two special nieces, Roberta McCor-mick and Shirley MacCrae; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday, 5-7 p.m. at the Congregational Christian Church, Main Street, Lubec. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, at the church with the Rev. Edwin Randall officiating. A Masonic funeral service will take place at that time.
