MACHIASPORT – Mr. Silvio Charles Sia, a resident of Machiasport, died on Dec. 8, 2003, at the age of 79. As a Navy veteran of World War II, he used the GI Bill to get his B.A. He worked for the Navy as a civilian psychologist. While on educational leave from the Navy job, he discovered a small inactive country airfield for sale. He activated the airport and concentrated on developing it. He sold his business and retired after 27 years. He lived in Florida in the winter and Maine in the summer. There are no family members left except for some nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law. He enjoyed a lifetime of good friends in Maine and Florida. Burial will be in the family plot in Sharon, Mass. Arrangements by Acadia Burial & Cremation Direct, Ellsworth.
