BANGOR – Sophia Elizabeth Hunter, 23 months, daughter of Will and Renee (Pooler) Hunter, died unexpectedly Feb. 24, 2008, at home. She passed away quietly in her sleep of causes that have not yet been determined. Sophie was born March 31, 2006, in Dallas, and was placed for adoption with the Hunter family, May 1, 2006. She will be remembered for the joy she experienced in her short life, the smiles she brought to everyone she knew and for the lessons she taught us about living. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her brother, Benjamin Way Hunter; paternal grandmother, Mary Bett Hunter of Huntsville, Ala.; maternal grandparents, Frank and Betty Foley; two very special aunties, Dr. Karen Pooler and Angela Pooler, all of Bangor; Uncle Steven Foley of Portland, Uncle Matthew Foley and his wife, Kristin, of Lewiston; great-aunts and great-uncles, David and Dolores Bagish of Morristown, N.J., Edwina Veillette of Fort Myers, Fla., Claude and Sandra Way of Old Town, Stewart and Arlene Way of Eddington, James and Ruth Mary Pooler of Holden and Peter Pooler of Apopka, Fla. The family wishes to recognize the Maine office of the medical examiner and give special thanks to Dr. Dewitt for the exceptional compassion she is bringing in her effort to learn why Sophie died. Family and friends may visit 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb 28, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, presider. Interment will be held after at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
