HOULTON – Mary M. Nickerson, 68, died peacefully Feb. 25, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was born March 2, 1939, in Monticello, the daughter of Kenneth and Minnie (Cullins) Nickerson. Mary was a very devoted and loving mother and grandmother, whose sense of humor and courage were evident to all who met her. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy M. Nickerson of Brewer, Sonya and her husband, Matthew Swallow, and Nannette and her husband, Greg Mills, all of Houlton; three grandchildren, whom were Mary’s joys, Daniel James Swallow, Haven Mary Rhoda and Sierra Leigh Rhoda; two sisters, Serita Hammond of Houlton and Katherine and her husband, Larry Dube, of Oakfield; three brothers, Chester Nickerson of Monticello, Fenton and his wife, Jeanette Nickerson, of Sydney and Eugene Nickerson of Houlton. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Hollis, Arthur and Carl; and one sister, Mildred Nickerson. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton and noon-1 p.m. Thursday at Military Street Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Spring interment will be held at Monticello Cemetery.
