MANCHESTER – Stanley W. Pratt, 90, of Manchester, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at Augusta Rehabilitation Center. He was born Jan. 24, 1915, in South Windsor the son of Walter L. and Susie (Leavitt) Pratt. He attended schools in Windsor, Chelsea and Cony High School in Augusta. He also attended Cornell University, where he studied accounting. Stanley worked at the former Hudson Pulp and Paper Mill, in Augusta. After he left the mill, for the next 34 years, he worked at Bangor Mental Health and Augusta Mental Health Institutes in the dietary department, retiring in 1980. He was a master electrician and spent many years doing electrical work part time while working for the mental health institutes. After retiring from the state, he went into the electrical field full time. He stopped doing the electrical work Feb. 7 of this year due to a massive stroke. Mr. Pratt was fond of watching movies at home on television, raising vegetables in his garden and loved his cats and dogs. He loved doing computer work and taught himself how to use the computer in his business. He was fond of music and enjoyed playing the keyboard and piano. Stan was a member of the Maine State Employees Association, Maine Retirees Association and an avid member of the State Hospital Bowling League, during the years he worked there. Stanley was predeceased by three brothers, E. Seth Pratt of Methuen, Mass., Ralph E. Pratt of Palermo and Pearley Thomas of Weeks Mills; two sisters, Phyllis E. Davis of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Hazel Wrinkle of Hartsville, Tenn. and his son, Darryl S. Pratt of South China. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janice (Newman) Pratt; a daughter, Nancy Curran of Pittston; a son, Lyndal Pratt of Florida; three stepchildren, John Hallett of Fayette, Linda Hallett Randall of Winthrop and Donald Hallett of Manchester; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and his loving little dog, “Twinkie.” Relatives and friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednes-day. Spring burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery Windsor.
