HOULTON – Ralph W. Prince 75, died March 18, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 27, 1929, at Oakfield, the son of Owen L. and Frances (Dutton) Prince. Ralph was a graduate of Oakfield High School, Class of 1948 and a graduate of the Aroostook State Normal School, Class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War. Following his discharge from the Navy, Ralph received his Bachelor of Science in Education from the Aroostook State Teachers College in 1956. He married Marilyn (Lewin) Prince on Sept. 22, 1956. He furthered his education in 1962 by receiving his master of education from the University of Maine, Orono. Ralph taught at Washburn Junior High School for seven years, then started teaching eighth grade math at Houlton Junior High School in 1963 and continued to do so until his retirement in 1986. He had a great love of sports, especially basketball, baseball and golf, both participating and as a spectator. More recently he enjoyed NASCAR racing with his buddies at Ken’s Store. He spent many happy summers painting houses with his long time friends Beverly Clark, Elwood Scott and Raymond Nickerson. He is survived by his wife of Houlton; one son, Jonathan Prince of Taunton, Mass.; two daughters, Gretchen Fitzpatrick and her husband, Brian, their children, Colleen and Samual, Jennifer Crandall and her children, Rebecca and Clarissa all of Houlton; daughter-in-law, Kathy Prince and her son, Alex of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Cleo Sewell and her husband, William, of Island Falls, Sherry Shaw and her husband, William, of Oakfield; four sisters-in-law, Nellie Prince, Leter Prince, MaryAnn Prince and Myrna Lewin; brother-in-law, Bryant Lewin; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Gregory Prince; three brothers, Owen Jr., William and Frank; and two sisters, Yvonne and Blanche “Buddie”. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, at the Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Bob Smith and the Rev. Jessie Drysdale officiating. A time of fellowship will be held in Watson Hall immediately following the service.
