ORONO and NORTHEAST HARBOR – Stephen “Steve” Clark Hamlin, 85, died Jan. 28, 2007, at an Orono health care facility. He was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Orono, the son of George Harold and Lucille G. (Clark) Hamlin. Steve attended the University of Maine, where he worked for many years. He was also a graduate of King Point in 1944 and then served in the U.S. Navy. Steve loved sailing and enjoyed raising Shetland sheep dogs. He is survived by four sons, William A. and wife, Claire Hamlin, Edward Hamlin and wife, Sara, Pete Hamlin and Greg Hamlin; a daughter, Nancy Giosia; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher, Sean, Kaleena, Michael, Anthony and Philip Hamlin, Michael Giosia and April Winchenbach. Steve was pre-deceased by his wife, Harriet L. (Albrecht) Hamlin in 2003.
