MADAWASKA – Sylvia Cyr, 82, died Feb. 19, 2005, at a Fort Kent hospital. She was born June 18, 1922, in Frenchville, the daughter of David and Solomie (Fongemie) Dionne. She was employed at the Gateway Motel in Madawaska for 32 years and she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne of the St. David Parish and of the Daughters of Isabella for which she served as president for 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Armand Cyr of Madawaska; three sons, Richard Cyr and his wife, Jeanne and Norman Cyr and his wife, Linda, all of Madawaska, David Cyr and his wife, Louise, of Woodland; one daughter, Kathleen Cyr of Medford, Mass.; one sister, Melissie Fongemie of Madawaska; five grandchildren, Susan Quenga and her husband, Silvino, of Kathleen, Ga., Steve Cyr and his wife, Shannon, of Duluth, Ga., Tammy Wortman and her husband, Roland, of Ashland Dann and Dylan Cyr of Woodland; nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Cathryn Quenga, Anna and Ella Cyr, Josh, Isaac, Gabrielle, Jesse, and Daniel Wortman; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six brothers, Abraham, Leonard, Patrick, Wilfred, Pierre, and Sylvio Dionne; and by three sisters, Blanche, Marie and Simone. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the St. David Church. Friends and relatives may call at the Daigle Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her memory to the St. David Parish Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
