BUCKSPORT – Theo A. (Tainter) Hackney, 91, died Oct. 23, 2006, at a Brewer nursing facility. She was born July 28, 1915, on Swans Island, daughter of Blanchard and Lucy (Smith) Tainter. Mrs. Hackney was predeceased by her parents at an early age and was raised by Calvin and Laura Stinson of Swans Island. She was a member of the Franklin Street United Methodist Church and the Order of Easter Star Felicity Chapter No. 195, both of Bucksport. Mrs. Hackney is survived by a beloved granddaughter, Heidi Theo Hackney; great-granddaughter, Brittany Leigh; son, Charles C. “Butch” Hackney, all of Bucksport; two daughters, Patricia Culver and husband, Earl, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Brenda J. Hackney of Bucksport; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William D. Hackney in 1951; two brothers, Kenneth Tainter and Ernest Watling; and sister, Audrey E. Harding. A graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
