BREWER and BANGOR Theresa Tracy Mansell, 88, wife of the late George B. Mansell of Brewer, passed away peacefully Feb. 12, 2007, with the people who loved her by her side, while residing at Eastside Rehab & Living Center. She was born Aug. 31, 1918, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Tracy of Orono. Terry graduated from Brewer High School and Beal College, Bangor. She was one of the early women police officers in Bangor. She also worked for RB Dunning, Brewer Junior High School, as secretary to the principal and as a receptionist/secretary for William Blaisdell, M.D., until retirement. She was a longtime active member of East Orrington Congregational Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Terry is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Mansell and his wife, Beverly, of Bangor and Ralph C. Mansell and his wife, Debra, of Connecticut; and daughter-in-law, Carrol Mansell of Texas. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Robert in 1998; and her husband, George in 1996. Her family was her life and all who knew Terry knew that her boys could do no wrong! She also leaves six grandchildren, Kimberly Laine and her husband, Marc, of Texas, Tammi Chaffee and her husband, Shaine, of Vermont, Ryan Duke, Troy, Tanja Carpenter and her husband, Joseph, of Connecticut, Tracey Yates and her husband, Michael, of Brewer, all of whom she dearly loved; four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Bradyn Yates of Brewer, Shaine Robert Chaffee of Vermont and Pierce Tate Carpenter of Connecticut; a sister, Margaret Layhe; a niece, Joanne Layhe; and a great-niece, Susie Layhe, all of Massachusetts. The family is very thankful for special friends who attended to her throughout the years, including her sister-in-law, Natalie Mansell of Brewer; a niece, Dale Kimsey of Hudson; the Rev. Robert and Elaine Carlson of Bangor; the staff at the Ellen Leach Home, Brewer; the Woodlands of Brewer; and most especially to the wonderful, loving staff at Eastside Rehab, Bangor, especially Jennifer W., Tina, David, Mary, Paula and Judy and all who took such wonderful care of Terry the last year of her life. Thank you all! A service celebrating Theresa’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at East Orrington Congregational Church, Orrington, with Pastor Carl Schreiber officiating. Private burial in the spring will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
