PLYMOUTH – Thomas A. LeVasseur Sr., 83, died Jan. 18, 2004, at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor, following a brief Illness. Thomas was born May 2, 1920, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Edward and Alice (Page) LeVasseur. He was educated in Caribou schools. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving in Italy and Africa. He was married to Cleo (Newton), who predeceased him on Nov. 8, 1999. For 24 years, Tom worked at the Briggs Hardware Store in Caribou. He also was employed for many years at Dexter Shoe in Dexter, retiring in 1982. He was a former member of the V.F.W. in Caribou. Tom is survived by four sons, Thomas A. LeVasseur Jr. of Plymouth, Douglas E. LeVasseur of Waynesville, Mo., Lewis Lovely of Liberty, Kan., Samuel Lovely of North Vassalboro; two daughters, Ethel May Blair of Hartland, Peggy A. Sinclair of Ripley; three sisters, Beatrice McDougall of Caribou, Gladys Ruth of Caribou, Lillian Meusse of Carmel; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by two grandchildren; and six brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be conducted in May at the Sawyer Cemetery in Plymouth, with Pastor Al Worden officiating.
