BANGOR – Thomas Jackson Young, 61, husband of Dotty (Goodwin) Young, passed away peacefully at home, May 9, 2006. Thomas was born in Bangor, Dec. 28, 1944, a son of John J. and Anastasia (Brountas) Young. He graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1963 and Beal College in 1968. He was employed by Bangor Shoe and Ansewn Shoe as a purchaser from 1966 to 2002. Thomas coached Little League baseball for many years. He was a member of the Army National Guard from 1967-1973. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and Hammond Street Congregational Church. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Dotty; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Missy Young; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Matt Burpee; two granddaughters, Kelsey DeRaps and Kayleigh Young; brother and sister-in-law, George and Pam Young; a niece, Meghan Young; several cousins. He will be remembered by special friends, Bill Arisimeek and Bonnie HaghKerdar and his constant companion, his dog, Princess. He was predeceased by his parents. Thomas’ family extends a heartfelt thanks to New Hope Hospice and caregivers, Janett, Melissa, Lisa and Valerie. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2006, at Hammond Street Congregational Church, with the Rev. Dr. Mark Allen Doty, pastor, officiating. Private interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Thomas to New Hope Hospice, P.O. Box 757, Holden, ME 04429.
