VERNON, Conn. – Thurley Marie (Keegan) Volovski, 74, wife of the late Thomas E. Volovski, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, with her daughter and son at her side. Born in Bridgewater, daughter of the late Ernest G. and Thurley D. Keegan, she spent her childhood days in Maine before moving to Hartford, Conn., in 1951, where she became a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and sang in the choir, using her gift of a beautiful alto voice for many years. She completed a program at Central Baptist Church in business office procedures, which prepared her for employment in the insurance industry. Thurley worked in the claims department of Cigna for 10 years before her retirement in 1985. She returned to Maine in 1987, and then to Vernon, Conn., in 2000, to live with her daughter. Thurley overcame many difficulties in her life and was a true inspiration to all that were fortunate to know her. She was a loving, caring and compassionate daughter and mother, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her beloved children, Serena Ann Volovski of Vernon, Conn., with whom she made her home, Thomas E. Volovski, II of Presque Isle and Stephen G. Volovski of Vernon, Conn. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held Saturday, Jan. 26, at First Congregational Church of Vernon, 695 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, Conn., with the Rev. Dr. Peter R. K. Brenner officiating. Burial will be at Sanborn Cemetery, Blaine, at the convenience of her family. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066 or to Central Baptist Church, 457 Main St., Hartford, CT 06103 or Rockville General Hospital, 31 Union St., Vernon, CT 06066.
