ORRINGTON – Vera C. (Blanchard) DeBeck, 91, wife of the late Lee B. DeBeck, died Oct. 27, 2005, at an Orono healthcare center. She was born April 20, 1914, in Brewer, the daughter of Asa W. and Lura A. (Gray) Blanchard Sr. Vera grew up in Brewer and was a 60-year resident of Orrington. She was a graduate of Brewer High School and had worked for Eastern Fine Paper’s Guest House. After retirement, Vera was a sales representative for Avon for many years. She was a member and past president of the Orrington Conservation Commission and loved all animals, especially dogs. Vera is survived by two children, Carroll L. DeBeck and his wife, Jean, of Eddington and Dorothy A. DeBeck of Bangor; a daughter-in-law, Mary I. DeBeck of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Kenneth E. DeBeck Jr. of Lincoln and Patrick DeBeck of Eddington; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee DeBeck of Ellsworth; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; one son, Kenneth E. DeBeck Sr.; two brothers, Asa W. Blanchard Jr. and Kenneth E. Blanchard; one sister, Dorothy A. Farnham. Vera’s family would like to thank Orono Commons for the exceptional care they provided. A graveside service will be held next spring at Oak Hill Cemetery, Orrington.
