LINCOLN – Vernon Hale Hawkins, 62, husband of Deborah (Smith) Hawkins, died Aug. 16, 2005, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Oct. 10, 1942, in Howland, the son of Vernon and Grace (Coffin) Hawkins. Hale loved his grandchildren and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his wife, Deborah, of Lincoln, he is survived by five children, Susan Hawkins of Zephyrhills, Fla., Stephen Hawkins and his wife, Angela, of Patten, Sharon Anderson and her husband, Kenneth, of Texas, Tammy Richards and her husband, James, and Sandra Jacobs and her husband, Joey, all of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren, Aaron Hawkins, Andrew Hawkins, Coty Hawkins, Victoria Lau, Joshua Anderson, Jordan Anderson, Katelyn Anderson, Nicole Richards, Matthew Richards and Bianna Jacobs; a sister, Anne Smith and her husband, Alton; a brother, Russell Hawkins and his wife, Margaret. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Vaughn Smith. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Community Evangel Temple, Lincoln, with the Rev. Timothy Shaw and the Rev. Ralph Jacobs officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
