HOULTON – Vernon R. “Rusty” Spooner, 84, went to be with his Lord June 21, 2008, at his residence. He was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Cary Plantation, the son of Frank H. and Emma B. (Brewer) Spooner. Rusty was a member of Church of Christ. He was employed by Maine Department of Transportation as a mechanic supervisor for 20 years. He loved to hunt and fish. Rusty is survived by his wife, Gladys (Haley) Spooner of Houlton; three sons, Patrick Spooner of Windham, N.H., Michael Spooner of Phoenix and Denis Spooner of Hodgdon; six grandchildren, Chad, Jon, Tim and Thomas Spooner, all of Hodgdon, Krystal Myers of Page, Ariz., and Mark Spooner of Iowa, three great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl Spooner of Orient; four sisters, Evelyn Marcellino of Connecticut, Mary Foley of Orient, Ruby Spielman of Connecticut and Vera Eggert of Connecticut; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
