HOULTON – Victor Duplichen Jr., 83, died Oct. 8, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 10, 1919, at Crowley, La., the son of Victor and Amma (Thibodeau) Duplichen Sr. Victor was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. After serving in the Army, he was a chef at Ricker College. He worked as a salesman for R.M. Flagg Co. He brought the first lunch bus to Houlton Community Park. He was corporator for Bangor Savings Bank and president of the credit union for two years. He was part owner of V.J. Thompson Buick until his retirement in the 1970s. He was a member of the Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and the Houlton Lodge of Elks No. 835. He loved hunting and being in his garden. Victor is survived by his wife, Geraldine B. (Benn) Duplichen of Houlton; daughter, Vicky D. Munroe and her husband, Floyd, of New Limerick; stepson, Richard L. Henderson of Polck City, Fla.; six grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children; one sister, Bernadette Hickey; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers and three sisters and his beloved cat, Duffy. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Evergreen Cemetery.
