TOLLAND, Conn. – Vinal L. Carlow, 82, entered into eternal rest with his family by his side May 9, 2006. He was born July 11, 1923, in Hollis. Vinal served in World War II. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed hunting and camping, cutting and stacking the winter’s wood was his favorite pastime. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Yurgel Carlow; two daughters, Claudette and her husband, Wilfred McAllister, of Hardwick, Vt. and Patricia of Vernon, Conn.; two sons, Douglas of Manchester, Conn., and Brian of East Hartford, Conn. He was predeceased by a son, Rodney. He also leaves behind his stepchildren of 30 years, John and his wife, Donna Yurgel, of Tolland, Conn., Stephen and his wife, Pam Yurgel, of Tolland, Conn., Edward Yurgel of Tolland, Conn. and Bobbie Jo and her husband, Sylvain Thibault, of Massachusetts. He was a proud grandfather of 12 and a beloved great-grandfather of 14. Friends may call at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln, 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13. Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Cemetery, West Enfield, with the Rev. Leroy Landry officiating.
