WINN – Vinal R. Haynes, 70, died Feb. 7, 2008. He was born Feb. 24, 1937, in Winn, the fourth child of George H. and Hazel M. (Whitney) Haynes. He grew up on a farm in Winn and graduated from Lee Academy in 1954. On Aug. 20, 1960, he married Jackie Ouellette from Wallagras. During his high school years, he worked on his father’s farm, but after graduating he went to work for Herbert G. Haynes. He continued to work for Herbert C. Haynes, Inc., up until his death. He was very devoted to his family and they were his pride and joy. He loved his work, loved the woods and the people he worked with. He was a loyal, wonderful man, who lived by his word and always brought out the best in others. He genuinely cared about people and had many, many friends who loved and cared for him. He enjoyed hunting each fall, especially with his son-in-law, Jon; grandson, P.J., and longtime hunting buddies. He loved challenging George and Andy to many games of checkers. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed his trips to Fenway Park with Jamie Kitchen and friends. He loved gardening and the out of doors. Vinal was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jackie; as well as two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice Wolfe and her husband, Jon, of New Ipswitch, N.H., and Beth Grindle and her husband, John, of Orono; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Preston “P.J.” Wolfe, and George and Andrew “Andy” Grindle; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clinton and Dolly Haynes of Winn and Arnold and Corinne Haynes of Goldsboro, N.C. He was predeceased by one brother, Byron Haynes. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Cyr officiating. Spring interment will be at Potter Brook Cemetery, Winn.
