EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. – Vincent P. Madore, 63, died peacefully Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. Born Oct. 17, 1940, in Van Buren, he was the son of the late Alma Bellefluer Levesque and Guy Madore of Van Buren. While in Van Buren he attended Van Buren Boys High School and graduated in 1958. He assisted his father in the Madore appliance store and at the age of 15 he was the youngest licensed electrician in the state of Maine. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army for 23 years, retiring in June 1981, as a Master Sergeant. While in the army he received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation medal, Good Conduct Medal (seven Times), National Defense Service Medal, U.S. Army Recruiter Badge with two sapphires, Marksman Badge and the Sharpshooter Badge. Also while in service, he was an Armed guard at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. In November of 2002, he retired from the Rensselaer Post Office as a customer service supervisor after 20 years of service. He attended the church of St. Mary in Clinton heights and was a past member of the Parish Council. He was a member of Community Hose Fire Co. of the Clinton Heights Fire Department, Melvin Roads American Legion Post 1231, Presque Isle Elks Club No. 1954, a leader of the Boy Scout Troop No. 271 of Presque Isle and was the committee chairman of St. Mary’s Cub Scout Troop No. 163. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Valeda Madore Lapierre of Van Buren; brother, Val Madore of Riverside Calif.; and his mother and father-in-law, Norman and Grace Leone of East Greenbush, N.Y. Survivors include his wife, Antonette “Toni” (Leone) of East Greenbush, whom he married in July 1980; his two sons, Denis M. Madore and his wife, Gena, of Presque Isle, and Nicholas V. Madore of East Greenbush; one sister, Marge Russell and her husband, Jim, of Caribou; he was the brother-in-law of Mona Madore Marsh of Riverside, Calif., Mary (Leone) and Phil Gause of East Greenbush, N.Y., Graci (Leone) and Phil Finkle of Catlett, Va., and Sylvio LaPierre of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; he was a special loving uncle to Philip and Emily Gause of East Greenbush, and many other nieces and nephews. Toni, Nick and Denis would like to thank the staff of the Capital District Oncology and Hematology in Latham, and nurses and staff of the 6th Floor of Samartian Hospital for the wonderful care and consideration they gave to Vince and his family during this difficult time. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer, N.Y., and 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights, where liturgy of Christian death and burial will be celebrated.
