ELLSWORTH and ISLESFORD Virginia A. Ramsey, 85, died Aug. 15, 2004, at a Bar Harbor healthcare facility. She was born Jan. 9, 1919, in Jonesport, the daughter of George Alvin and Emma (Leighton) Harmon. Upon completion of high school in Jonesport, Virginia furthered her education in Portland and then went to Boston to receive her nurses training at Massachusetts General Hospital. She did private duty practice until she married. Virginia became a housewife and raised her three children. Though not one for hobbies, Virginia loved to dance, enjoyed good music and could light up a room with her love and laughter. She loved life and enjoyed socializing with her many friends. Virginia especially enjoyed her summers, which were spent at the family cottage on Islesford. Virginia is survived by two daughters, Donna R. Ramsey of Bucksport and North Carolina and Judy Ramsey of Ellsworth; daughter-in-law, Grace Ramsey Stroud of North Carolina; her granddaughter, Lindsay Carmen McCoy of Ellsworth; three nephews, Sonny and Charles Harmon of Jonesport and Wayne Beal of California. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Ramsey; one son, Steven “Steve” Ramsey; her sister, Natalie Beal; her brother-in-law, Lawrence Beal; her brother, George R. Harmon and sister-in-law, Arline Harmon. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at Sand Beach Cemetery, Islesford. Immediately following the service, friends are invited to the Neighborhood House for refreshments. The boat leaves Northeast Harbor at 12 noon for Islesford.
