GUILFORD and FRANCONIA, Va. – Virginia Elizabeth (Micue) Dodge, 87, of Franconia, Va., passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Virginia. Mrs. Dodge was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Corinna, and moved to Franconia in 1951. Mrs. Dodge graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1938 and then, later from Gilmer Commercial School, Bangor. While attending the Gilmer Commercial School she lived at the YWCA, Bangor. After completing her education, she was first employed by Charles Murray, Bangor, as a bookkeeper and later accepted a position at Dow Air Force Base from 1941 to 1945, during World War II. In 1942 she married her husband of 59 3/4 years, Charles Nelson Dodge, who predeceased her, in Guilford, and in 1943, during his military training, she visited him in Texas. Shortly after that Mr. Dodge shipped out to Europe with the 4th Armored Division during World War II. After moving to Franconia, Va., in 1951, Mrs. Dodge was then employed at the Pentagon, holding several positions for the federal government and finished her career as a budget analyst for the National Guard, retiring Feb. 29, 1980. She was a member and past secretary/ treasurer of the Society of Virginia, and had previously participated in the Cherry Blossom Festival, where in 1986 her granddaughter was Virginia Festival Princess. She had been a member of the Maine State Society since 1951 and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1996. She had also been a member of Franconia United Methodist Church since 2006. Survivors include her dau-ghter, Crystal D. Sims of Annandale, Va.; granddaughter, Tracy Sims Wheless of North Carolina; two nieces, Shirley Rogers and Amy Melton; several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at Elmwood Cemetery, Guilford.
